Hmmm...

Doctor's not sure what's going on with Caleb. We're keeping him doped up on Advil and if he's still like this on Monday then we'll have to go back to the orthopedist. Here's a video of him trying to run - it's just not his normal self.

Earlier the kids were playing "tornado". Nathaniel is the tornado and Caleb is driving the sofa "truck" trying to get away from it.

Setback for Caleb

Caleb today started favoring his leg/foot again. By lunch he was basically staggering around the house still trying to play even though it's obvious it is bothering him. We are going to the doctor this afternoon - wish I knew what was going on with him because from Monday till today he has been like normal.

Freedom!!

Caleb is out of his cast & everything looks good. He started walking at the docotor's. The doctor said to take it easy, no jumping today - I told Caleb "no jumping" and he promptly jumped up and down. He's a good listener... He was very sad to see his cast taken off, but now he has a nice although stinky souvenir.

Meltdown

Beautiful weather has led to massive snowmelt. Caleb found the one spot where you can see dirt now & managed to play in some mud.

We go on Monday to see if he can be freed of his cast yet. Kelly had his first weekend off this year and we tried to sleep in and be as lazy as possible. The kids had a nice Valentine's Day. We spent half the school day making cards & having a candy hunt.

Good Day for Caleb

The last couple of days have been really nice so I took Caleb's cast & wrapped it in multiple socks and plastic bags and let him go outside. He was very happy. Kelly even had the day off and we all had a good time. Here's a ton of pics and videos.

All Ready To Go

Content to just lay & eat the snow - yuck.

Caught the kids goofing around - before Caleb had his cast.

Burrowing

Caleb is benched for now and he is quite unhappy about not being able to go play in the snow. While Caleb's hanging out on the sofa the others are busy making burrows in the snow.

Better Today

Caleb is doing much better today. He is walking, jumping and playing almost like he normally would. He has to wear his snow boot on his other foot to help keep him balanced. Mommy is VERY relieved and happy to not carry around his 35 pound squirmy rear end all the time.

Cool Green Cast

Caleb is going to be in a walking cast for at least 2 weeks - let's hope he starts walking in the next couple of days. We still don't know what exactly happened and the doctor isn't positive he even has a fracture but it's better to be safe, you know.

More pictures from today...

The snow finally took over the fence and it's still snowing. The car is somewhere behind all that snow. This was taken at 5:30 when I spent an hour shoveling the sidewalk. It looks like I'm going to have to hurl the snow farther. I would really rather relax in front of a fire today but Caleb's appointment is at 2. Plenty of time to dig our our 4 wheel drive truck that got stuck this morning. Here's some of our icicles.

Sunday, February 3, 2008

So Caleb woke up on Saturday and couldn't put weight on his left leg. Today, Sunday, we took him to the emergency room because there is no other clinic open today. After 6 hours we now know that he does not have an infection, and his X-rays look ok but he may have a small fracture of his tibia. We go to see an orthopedist tomorrow. This video was taken on Saturday when he was trying to walk, it was dark so the video is bad. The picture is today sleeping with the splint on his leg. He's trying to do all what he normally does and it was heartbreaking to watch him trying to walk and his leg would just collapse under him.

Snow Days

Snow pictures from last week..... enjoy.

Some Fun

This was a couple weeks ago before we got tons of snow. We built up a ramp at the bottom of the hill and Nathaniel kept getting jolted off his sled or hurled over the ramp without his sled. Quite a fun time was had by all.
